Healthcare options in Madagascar are very limited and all serious interventions require evacuation to major cities, the capital, or, for the wealthiest individuals, to Reunion Island. As a result, families often sacrifice healthcare and, even more so, surgical care.<\/p>\n

Access to drinking water, sometimes impossible, is an aggravating factor for populations requiring care. It is also the cause of many digestive problems, especially in infants. In this challenging health context, Authentic Products (in partnership with the Firmenich Group and Frontier) has chosen to build several wells to help local communities. Construction of these wells began in 2014. Each well benefits the community, providing water to approximately 25 to 50 people. <\/p>\n

To date, in 2022, 46 wells have already been built for a unit price of 4 million Ariary or 1200 euros.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Fluctuations in vanilla prices lead to precarious situations for populations when prices fall. This is why producers integrated into Authentic Products’ sustainable programs have an income 8% higher than conventional producers. Members of the Savanille, Bio Andapa, and Authentic Vanille projects benefit from a premium of 10 to 25% compared to the price of conventional vanilla (outside the fields of sustainable projects). This premium is defined and adjustable according to the market price level compared to conventional vanilla (10 to 25% depending on the price level). Authentic Products also encourages producers to diversify cash crops through nurseries offering clove and pink peppercorn plants.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In many countries, women are the pillars of the family, active members of the community, and also responsible for agricultural work. Thus, their education and training contribute to their empowerment towards their environment and their community. A module to train women in budget management was created in March 2019. This module is dedicated to the Tsara Kalitao project, initially entrusted to the NGO GCD (Groupe de Conseil et de D\u00e9veloppement) for one year, until April 2020. This module is now entrusted to trained facilitators. In a country where people live from day to day, the objective of this training is to learn how to manage a family budget in the form of simple accounting.<\/p>\n

Mastering budget management allows women to analyze their expenses and income and to plan for the medium term.<\/strong> Thus, it is possible for them to achieve financial security during the lean season (February to March) and to invest in a personal project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
